Community Bank is operated through a contract between a commercial financial institution and the Department of Defense. Currently the contractor is Navy Federal Credit Union. The Defense Finance and Accounting Service, in coordination with the Military Service banking representatives, is responsible for oversight of Community Bank.

Community Bank has over 60 banking centers and nearly 270 ATMs in Germany, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Italy, Japan and Okinawa, Korea, Diego Garcia, Guantanamo Bay, Honduras, and Kwajalein Atoll. The contract specifies the following as authorized customers:

  • Active Duty U.S. Military Personnel, and their sponsored family members
  • DoD U.S. Civilian Employees and their sponsored family members
  • U.S. Employees of all other U.S. Government departments and NAFIs, and their sponsored family members
  • Active Duty U.S. Military Personnel and U.S. Government Civilian Personnel on temporary duty
  • U.S. Reserve Military Personnel on temporary active duty
  • Limited services for retirees in Germany, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Korea (must present proof of residency or provide a work permit for Korea in addition to presenting retiree/dependent identification card)

If your Community Bank Debit or ATM card is lost or stolen, if you notice unauthorized transactions, or are having difficulty completing a transaction, immediately contact your local banking center or call Customer Service at 1-800-239-9427 or (210) 270-5723:

  • Select option 6 from the main menu
    • Select option 1 from the submenu to report a card lost or stolen
    • Select option 2 from the submenu if you notice unauthorized transactions or are experiencing difficulty completing a transaction
